Marlon S. Bryan, 42, of Glenn Dale,  was heading south in a BMW SUV on the highway in Fredericksburg when he purposefully rear-ended a 2011 Cadillac SUV carrying a 62-year-old male of Philadelphia, PA, a 22-year-old woman, and a 2-month-old baby girl on Saturday, Sept. 16 around 11 a.m., Virginia State Police said.

The impact caused the BMW to run off the left side roadway into the median, and Bryan fled the scene on foot, State Police said. He was captured soon after without incident at an entertainment venue in Central Park Plaza in Fredericksburg.

"Through the investigation, state police learned that Bryan caused the crash in an attempt to injure his front seat passenger, a 23-year-old female from Glen Allen, VA," Virginia State Police said in a news release.

Bryan's passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was hospitalized, as were the passengers in the other vehicle. He was being held without bond at the Rappahannock County Jail on charges of one felony count of hit-and-run and one felony count of attempted malicious wounding.
